Use a newsletter to keep in touch with the people who matter most
Newsletters are a great way to condense all that information into one newsletter to make it much easier for your audience to read. Make sure your followers read your newsletters with a design that is eye-catching, easy to read and also interesting.
Canva can help you with this project:
explore our collection of professionally designed templates and customize them to your liking (or for your brand). Take advantage of our easy-to-use design tools to customize the various elements of your design, such as images, fonts, and colors.
How to design a newsletter
If you haven’t signed up for Canva yet, you can do so with your email, Facebook or Google account. Do you already have an account? Then you just have to log in and start designing your newsletter
- Find the perfect template
Browse Canva’s library and find newsletter templates for any topic. To make it easier to find a template, add keywords that describe what you’re looking for. To start designing, click on the template that you like the most.
- Discover features
Explore millions of items, illustrations, images and more. Add borders, backgrounds and text boxes anywhere in your newsletter. Use the drag and drop tool to experiment with your design and refine it.
- Customize your design
Personalize your newsletter with your own brand elements. Upload your own images and photos, your text and your icons to complete your design as you like.
- Post it and share it
With a single click, you can share your newsletter with your contacts. It’s even possible to send your design via Mailchimp: just click on the three dots in the upper right corner of your screen and choose the “Share” option.
Create a professional design and build trust in your business
In addition to serving to send updates, newsletters can help position you as an expert in your industry. Write about the latest market trends or share interesting content, as well as the latest news about your company or business, so you have a constant flow of information with your audience. Don’t forget to add a call to action for your readers to respond. If you are going to send your newsletter by email, you can add a link to your website or to your email. If not, you can download your design as a PDF file.
Use images and illustrations from the Canva library
It is important that your articles have images to give context to the news and not to fill your design with only text. Use Canva’s drag-and-drop tool to insert images into your design. Choose from our high quality images, illustrations and icons: you can find options for many themes and categories.
Each image has been carefully selected to ensure it looks great both on your screen and in print. In the Canva library, there are many free elements and you will never pay more than 1 USD for a single use of the premium elements.
Use the brand kit or choose fonts and colors that represent you
Make sure your newsletter follows brand guidelines and follows a consistent design volume to volume. Canva Pro users can create their own brand kits – great for saving color palettes, logos, and fonts to use for all your designs. You can also choose any color you like using Canva’s color wheel in the editor toolbar.
May your design be a team effort
Because your designs are stored in the cloud, it’s easy to collaborate with your team. Just send a link to your colleagues to edit your design. Just click the Share button and select the corresponding option. Once they’ve signed up for Canva, they’ll be able to view and edit all of your designs from any computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
What do the best newsletters have in common?
A good newsletter has an interesting subject and title that captures the attention of the audience; a layout that balances content and white space; a weekly or monthly summary; updates on social media activities or recent or upcoming events; eye-catching animations, illustrations and images; and a clear call to action.
What should a newsletter include?
Most newsletters include:
A headline and tagline
An image that matches the theme of the month or week
Thumbnails and excerpts from featured articles, along with links to full articles
A call to action, such as a link to register for an event
Links to social media profiles
Contact information about your business
How long should a newsletter be?
Newsletters can be long or short depending on their purpose. It is generally said that they should have about twenty lines of text (or 200 words), because that way they have a higher click-through rate, but promotional newsletters tend to have less text and more images and calls to action.
